Professional Services Agreement
In 2006, CES and representatives from the Government of Saskatchewan formed the Consultant Selection Policy Working Group. The group would work towards the development and implementation of a more consistent engineering/geoscience consultant selection policy and contracting policy that would be available to all provincial government departments, agencies and crown corporations.
The intent of the initiative was to develop a consistent consultant (selection) policy in order to:
- provide cost savings for Saskatchewan in the long term
- provide standardized agreement (template) for consulting services to create efficiency within government and the consulting industry
- have an effective consultant (selection) policy which allows the consulting industry to provide efficient and effective services to government as well as other provincial and export clients
- have an effective consultant (selection) policy which will facilitate economic activity in our province through export of consulting services by allowing the consulting industry to build upon the government base of work
- have an effective consultant (selection) policy which will create a strong sustainable consulting industry with local and export work which will allow CES member firms attract and retain qualified staff
- have an effective consultant (selection) policy which will enable a strong viable consulting industry to have the resources to provide the services needed for business and resource development in Saskatchewan.
Over the course of 2007 and 2008, considerable work has been done on the development of a standardized professional services agreement. This standard agreement is in the final stages of development and is anticipated to be available in the Spring of 2008. The agreement will be posted to the CES website when it is finalized.
