Project Description
Mosaic Potash Esterhazy (Mosaic) operates the Cutarm Creek Dam to provide a water supply to the K2 mine site near Esterhzy, SK. In November 2007, seepage and stability concerns were identified on the downstream face of the dam during the annual dam inspection. MDH was commissioned to repair the dam without impacting worker safety, the environment, or Mosaic's water supply. The work included a geotechnical investigation, design, tender package and environmental report.
Construction involved adding a granular filter blanket and compacted till toe berm to the downstream face of the dam, lengthening the existing riparian works and removing till material for the top of the east valley wall.
