Coal Fired Generation Option Study
Project Description
SaskPower is reviewing alternative power projects to provide 350 MW or 450 MW (gross) of electrical generation for Saskatchewan´s future load requirements. Neill and Gunter prepared a prefeasibility study for a single unit coal fired generation option as part of this review. Original study plans were based on a CO2 capture ready plant that mitigated emissions and particulate matter; however, both post combustion CO2 capture and Oxyfuel options were eventually included. Neill and Gunter is now the owner´s engineer for the precommitment engineering phase for the clean coal project; it would be the first such project in the world.
Study subconsultants: Donovan Engineering Limited, Clifton Associates Ltd., Inpro Consultant.
