Yellow Quill First Nation Integrated Bio-Membrane Treatment System
The Yellow Quill First Nation bio-membrane water treatment plant in Saskatchewan is a first of its kind in Canada. The water treatment process is based on biological pretreatment, integrated with reverse osmosis membranes. The project took a fresh innovative approach to water treatment that considered the biological, chemical and physical stability of the product in unison, a "wholistic" approach. Canada's longest boil-water advisory was lifted March, 2004. The successful development of this treatment process for very poor quality, groundwater bodes well for future treatment of very poor quality sources. Sub-consultants included WateResearch, P. Machibroda & Beckie Hydrogeologists.
