T. C. Douglas Building Rehabilitation, Regina
Project Description:
- Design services were provided for the rehabilitation of the T. C. Douglas Building, a high-profile public landmark in Regina.
- The $7.5 million rehabilitation project was carried out with the facility fully occupied and business was not interrupted.
- Interior working conditions were improved along with safety upgrades, energy savings and a significantly improved ability to control temperature/humidity conditions in the Mackenzie Art Gallery.

The Judges´ Comments:
- This is a prime example of the opportunities for the engineering community to equip older building envelopes for the challenges, such as the Kyoto Accord, of the 21st century.
- Expanding the useful life of a major community facility and accommodating occupancy constraints during the renovation work constituted major challenges for this project.
- The Consultant has used its knowledge and experience in building envelope design and contract supervision to address special needs and to correct exterior wall deficiencies in an economical and timely manner, all while the building was fully occupied.
