South East Sector Storm Water Management Master Plan for the City of Saskatoon

Project Description:

  • Saskatoon's proposed South East sector is under pressure for both development and habitat conservation.
  • A Storm Water Management Master Plan was developed to preserve existing natural features and habitat, focus on community and maximum development, provide education and recreation opportunities, and develop stakeholder consensus.
  • Added benefits included improvement of storm water quality and mitigation of overloading of the existing storm water system.

The Judges´ Comments:

  • This project has major impacts on the future development of the City of Saskatoon and addressed the needs and concerns of all stakeholders.
  • The integrated solution highlighted wetland habitat preservation and water quality, as well as creating educational opportunities in an urban setting.
