The North Battleford Comprehensive High Schoolwas constructed in 1969 to provide academic and vocational education to the Battleford's growing high school population.
The majority of the 25 000 m2 complex was designed to be heated, ventilated and air conditioned by a central mechanical system using a constant volume, dual-duct air distribution system. The central mechanical system included the following major elements:
Beginning in 1998, the facility was renovated and expanded to accommodate the North West Regional College, the high school administrative office area and a daycare. For each of these areas, separate, standalone mechanical systems were included in the project. As a result of renovations, the original load on the central supply air system was reduced by approximately 30%.

"In all engineering problems, there is always a question as to how far one goes - how deep do you go into the problem. We were most impressed with, as the title says "Attention to Detail ..." This was a project in which an engineering problem was given thorough treatment - an exhaustive investigation. And it paid off. The result was a substantial saving in heating and energy costs, while maintaining a healthy comfortable working environment."
